Phoenix shows their bench is better than the Lakers’; wins Game 4

compiled from staff and wire reports

The Phoenix Suns have used playing in the desert as a positive the last two games.

The Suns received a great performance from their relentless bench to withstand Kobe Bryant’s 38-point, 10-assist effort and beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 115-106 in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on Tuesday night.

The series is all tied up at 2-2 heading back to Los Angeles for Game 5 on Thursday.

Up until game 4, the Suns bench was ineffectively, but came alive and outscored the Lakers bench 54-20 on 20 of 32 from the field and 9 of 20 from 3-point land.

Channing Frye broke out of a slump to score 14 points, Leandro Barbosa had 14 points, Jared Dudley added 11 and Goran Dragic manned the point guard position and accumulated eight points and eight assists in 18 minutes.

Amare Stoudemire scored 21 points and Steve Nash, playing with a broken nose scored 15 points and had eight assists.
