DUBLIN, OHIO — Kyle Reifers may not be a household name on the PGA Tour, but he has been making noise this week at the Memorial Tournament with rounds of 71, 70, 73 for a 2-under-par 214, which is good for an eighth place tie, six shots behind the leader Spencer Levin.

The 6’2, 175-pound golfer is known to the local media and several golf fans due to the fact that he was born in Columbus, Ohio.

The 28-year-old plays regularly on the Nationwide Tour, the stepping-stone to the PGA Tour.

Reifers played his college golf at Wake Forest University.  He was the runner-up at the 2006 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships.

Reifers turned professional in 2006 and earned his PGA Tour card in 2007.

He won his first pro tournament one week after the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships, on the Egolf Tarheel Tour at the Charlotte National Open. Reifers picked up his second pro win the following week at the Chattanooga Classic on the Nationwide Tour. He became the 11th player in Tour history to win his first career start and the 19th to win on Tour as a Monday.

His parents, Randy and Alison are known around Ohio golf circles. His dad was inducted into the Ohio Golf hall of Fame. His mom has won Ohio State Amateur tournaments.

At DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, Reifers’ father, Randy, played on the same golf team as former Vice President Dan Quayle and golf analyst Mark Rolfing.

Reifers currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
