Bob Boozer, former Olympian, NBA star dies at age 75

Bob Boozer, a member of the dominating and talented 1960 U.S. Olympic team who went on to be a star in the NBA, died at age 75 of a brain aneurysm over the weekend in Omaha, Nebraska.

Boozer played with Jerry West, Oscar Robertson and Jerry Lucas on the gold-medal winning 1960 Olympic team and went on to average 14.8 points and 8.1 rebounds for six NBA teams which included the Cincinnati Royals, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Seattle Supersonics and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Boozer was an All-American at Kansas State in 1958 and 1959 before playing 11 years in the NBA after the Cincinnati Royals drafted him #1 overall.

Boozer, who was 6’8, 215-pounds, and a forward, retired after his team, the Milwaukee Bucks won the 1971 NBA championship.
