Dayton Dragons having tough time in close games

The Dayton Dragons always have large crowds at their games, whether the team is having a winning season or a losing one.

In 2011, the team qualified for the Midwest League playoffs, but this year’s team is having problems winning and closing out close games.

The Midwest League is a low Single-A league and has 16 teams. Of those teams, only four have suffered fewer losses in games decided by more than three runs than the lowly Dragons’ seven going into weekend games.

The Dragons have not had the answer in those types of games. Some say, its because the roster has a bunch of new players. Low Single-A teams regularly move players to advanced Single-A and rosters turn over every year.

* Dayton is 7-7 in games decided by four runs or more

* They are 7-20 in games decided by 1-3 runs

* In one-run games, Dayton is 3-9.

In their last 16 games, the Dragons are 3-13.
