Kansas head basketball coach Bill Self, not only lost the national championship game to the Kentucky Wildcats, but he is losing two of his top assistant coaches as well.

First, director of basketball operations Barry Hinson announced that he had taken the job at Southern Illinois.

And now, its long-time assistant Danny Manning will become the new head coach at Tulsa.

Manning, who played for the Jayhawks from 1984-88, was a smooth-shooting inside-outside player who at 6’10, 230-pounds, scored 2,951 career points and is the Lawrence, Kansas school’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder. Self, earlier in his career, was the head coach at Tulsa.

The 45-year-old Manning played in the NBA with the LA Clippers, Atlanta, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Utah, Dallas and Detroit.
