Griffin receives Ford-Kinnick Award from Big Ten Conference

Archie Griffin has not played college football since the mid-1970′s, but he is still being honored for his exploits on the gridiron.

The 57-year-old two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin was named the Big Ten Conference’s first recipient of the Ford-Kinnick Leadership Award,

The award is named after the late President Gerald Ford and Iowa Heisman Trophy winner and World War II hero Nile Kinnick.

Griffin, who won the Heisman in 1974 and 1975, was given in recognition of leadership an individual has displayed after their playing career has ended.

Griffin has been president and CEO of the Ohio State Alumni Association since 2004. He has been responsible for leading several scholarship and charity organizations.

Griffin who played at Ohio State from 1972-1975, also played in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals from 1976-1982. He wrapped up his football career with the Jacksonville Bulls of the USFL in 1985.
