Indians trade Clippers star Valbuena to Toronto

There was no doubt that Luis Valbuena was one of the catalysts who drove the Columbus Clippers offense the past two seasons.

In 2011, Valbuena hit .302 in 113 games, with 64 runs scored, 127 hits, 22 doubles, 17 homers, 75 RBI’s, 200 total bases, 46 walks. He helped lead the Clippers to back-to-back IL Governors Cup champions and National Triple-A world champions.

But when it came time to hit major league hitting, Valbuena had no clue.

So, the Cleveland Indians with a boatload of middle infielders, traded the second baseman over the weekend to the Toronto Blue Jays  in exchange for cash considerations.

The 25-year-old played in 17 games for Cleveland last year, batting just .209 with one homer and one RBI.

The move puts Toronto at 40 players on their 40-man roster.
