Johansen stays with Blue Jackets; spearheaded win over Anaheim on Tuesday

Ryan Johansen has been one of the few bright spots in a disappointing start of the season for the Columbus Blue Jackets who are 2-9-1 as we write.

For his play, the Blue Jackets have rewarded him by keeping him with the big club.

The 19-year-old has scored two goals in his nine-game NHL career.

Both of his goals have been game-winners. The CBJ will be keeping the former first-round draft pick will remain with the team and will not be returned to the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League.

Johansen will soon play his 10th NHL game, the first-year of his entry-level contract will engage and he will earn the right to become a restricted free agent after the 2013-14 season.

Johansen could not have been sent to minor-league Springfield, because NHL rules prohibit him from sent there until he is 20 years old.

Steve Mason was solid in goal for Columbus

On Tuesday night, the Blue Jackets played with an agressive behavior and crispness and sharpness which was much better than in two straight road losses to Buffalo and Chicago.

The team beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 in Nationwide Arena before 16,022 fans.

The Blue Jackets converted on a 5-on-3 power play 2:23 into the game.

The home team received goals from Rick Nash, Ryan Johansen and Fedor Tyutin and James Wisniewski registered two assists.
