Coyotes’ LaBarbera honoring Pat Tillman this season
Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Jason LaBarbera is using his mask this season to pay tribute to NFL-star player-turned war-hero Pat Tillman.
Tillman was definitely a fan-favorite in Arizona, first with Arizona State and then with the NFL’s Cardinals.
He joined the Army shortly after 9/11 and was killed by friendly fire in 2004.
LaBarbera came up with the idea to honor Tillman over this past summer.
The 6’3, 230-pound goalie was drafted as the 66th overall pick in the 1998 NHL Draft by the New York Rangers.
LaBarbera has played for the Rangers, the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver.
