Lakeland’s Lennerton earns two honors in Florida State League

Jordan Lennerton, first baseman of the Lakeland Flying Tigers, was named TOPPS Player of the Month for August and the Florida State League Player of the Week. The FSL selection was for the period of August 29-Spetember 5.

In 28 games during the month of August, Lennerton hit .406 (43-106) while scoring 22 runs and driving home 21. His hits included 8 home runs, 10 doubles and a triple. Lennerton’s August OPS was 1.207, his slugging percentage was .745 and on-base percentage was .462.

This is the second time in three weeks Lennerton was selected as the Florida State League Player of the Week. In nine games, he had 14 hits in 30 plate appearances for a .467 batting average. His hits included two homers and five doubles. He had 11 runs batted in and scored six times.

Lennerton is in his fourth season of professional baseball. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 33rd round of the June 2008 draft out of Oregon State University. He lives in Langley, British Columbia.

The Lakeland Flying Tigers are a Class A affliate of the Detroit Tigers.
