PGA Tour golfer Tiger Woods has seen several changes in his career in the past two years, a sex scandal, a well-publicized divorce, losing corporate sponsors, no wins, his ranking drop from #1 to 20th in the world and now a new caddie.

It was announced on Wednesday that Woods had let his long-time friend and caddy Steve Williams go. Woods made the surprising news on his website .

According to published reports around the golf world, the successful partnership ended in a room at the Aronomink Golf Club near Philadelphia two weeks ago, but both kept the news quiet until Wednesday. Williams says he “shocked” by the decision.

Everybody wonders how this partnership dissolved after 12 years of success.

It has been reported that Woods was upset when Williams worked for Adam Scott at the U.S. Open, then worked for him at the AT&T National and the British Open.

Woods, unlike other golfers, has only had three caddies during his career. Williams, Mike “Fluff” Cowan and childhood friend, Bryon Bell.
