Alex Wimmers’ complete game, 14-strikeout performance in the Buckeyes 7-1 win over Indiana Friday earned him his second Big Ten Pitcher of the week honor in 2010.
The pre-season All-American scattered six hits, gave up just one run and did not walk a batter in his longest outing of the year. With the win, Wimmers became the first Buckeye starter to begin the season 7-0 since Cory Luebke did so in 2007. It was the sixth career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award for the junior right-hander, a 2010 member of the Golden Spikes award watch list given to the best college baseball player in the country.
