Hamlin holds off Kenseth to win at Michigan

Denny Hamlin knocked the monkey off his back by winning his first NASCAR Sprint Cup race of the year on Sunday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.

Hamlin, in his #11 FedEx Express Toyota, held off Matt Kenseth. The two drivers were engaged in a fuel-mileage finish, but a late caution flag enabled them to take pit stops before the closing five-lap sprint to the finish.

Kenseth was the only driver who had any kind of shot at catching Hamlin in the final laps. Kenseth tried to go high and low to try and pass Hamlin, but was not successful in doing so.

Hamlin has typically done well at Michigan. It was his second straight win at the track. He won by 0.281 of a second.

Kyle Busch finished third, giving Joe Gibbs Racing two of the top three spots.
