The College Baseball Hall of Fame announced the names of 25 players from across the country who are featured on the watch list for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award. Included on the list is Ohio State freshman first baseman/pitcher Josh Dezse, from Powell, Ohio and Olentangy Liberty High School.

The Olerud Award, which recognizes a player who makes an impact both on the mound and at the plate, will be presented in Lubbock, Texas, on July 3 as part of the College Baseball Hall of the Fame’s Night of Champions.

At the plate, Dezse hit .332 in 53 games, with 64 hits, 11 doubles, 4 homers and 42 RBI’s.

On the mound, the freshman star was 4-2 with a 5.53 ERA in 26 appearances, 6 saves and 32 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched.

Dezse was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week four times and Big Ten Player of the week twice this season.
