Former Dayton guard Staten decides on Huggins, Mountaineers
The West Virginia Mountaineers and head coach Bob Huggins have been adding transfers lately.
Last month, former LaSalle center Aaric Murray announced he was transferring to the school. Murray was LaSalle’s best player, leading the team in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.
Huggins on Monday (June 6), Huggins has added another player in former Dayton point guard Juwan Staten.
Staten started 34 games as a freshman for the Flyers last season. He averaged 8.5 points and 5.4 assists in 29 minutes per game. He left Dayton, becuase he didn’t like the slow tempo play of former head coach Brian Gregory, now at Georgia Tech.
Huggins said that Staten has signed a grant-in-aid to attendĀ West Virginia.
Both players will have to sit out the 2011-2012 season due to NCAA transfer rules and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
