The Columbus Crew has announced today (Tuesday April 26) that it has signed Argentine midfielder Santiago Prim, who will occupy one of the team’s international roster spots and be eligible for selection upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and visa.

The 20-year-old Prim comes to the Crew after spending the last two seasons with San Lorenzen de Almagro, the famed Buenos Aires club that produced such talent as Ivan Cordoba and Jose Luis Chilavert. The Campana, Argentina, native made his professional debut on September 26, 2009 in a 3-2 win over Tigre of Victoria.

Prim first joined the Crew on trial during its preseason trip to Arizona, where he impressed the technical staff over the course of his five preseason appearances.

Prim is 5’10 and 165 pounds.

The Crew also announced concurrently that Danny O’Rourke has been placed on the Disabled List. The veteran defender/midfielder continues his rehabilitation of a left knee after undergoing surgery on it last November.
