Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong has announced that he has retired from his sport again, but this time for good.

The 39-year-old cyclist has been a target of a federal investigation into doping in the sport of cycling.

He says that he will be leaving to spend more time with his family, which consists of five children and that age was catching up with him.

Armstrong announced his retirement in 2005, the year he won his unprecented seventh consecutive Tour de France.

His previous retirement lasted over three years. He returned in 2009 to try to win the Tour for an eighth time, but finished third to Astana teammate Alberto Contador of Spain.
