KEY POINTS

The last time New York City FC ventured to Columbus to take on the Crew it was the season opener for both teams in 2020. It was a rough introduction to league play for Ronny Deila when Maxime Chanot was sent off three minutes into the match which ultimately was the fastest red card to start a season in MLS history. The Boys in Blue battled well with 10 men, but fell by the finest of margins 1-0.

• Both Chanot and Valentin Castellanos are one yellow card away from a suspension. Speaking of Castellanos, the Argentine leads the league in shots per 90 minutes. He’s only played 66 minutes in his career at Columbus, but a moment of brilliance from distance in 2019 rescued a point in a 2-2 draw.

• Sean Johnson is tied for the league lead in saves with 64 and second in goals against average amongst goalkeepers who have started at least 15 matches.

• NYCFC currently sit 8 points clear of the playoff line with only 15 points left to play for. All five games remaining for the Boys in Blue are either against teams above them in the table, including their hosts today, or within that 8 point margin.

• Maxi Moralez is back in line for selection following a knee injury that has kept his sidelined since September 12. The Argentine playmaker has only played 486 minutes this season
