WISCONSIN 53 WOFFORD 44
The Badgers held their own against pesky Wofford. Wisconsin used their defense and NCAA experience to put the game away late.
Jon Leuer led the way with 20 points for the 4th-seeded Badgers, who’ll be playing in the second round for the fourth consecutive year.
The 13th-seeded Terriers end the year at 26-9 while the Badgers move on at 24-8.
CORNELL 78 TEMPLE 65
One of Friday’s surprising games as Cornell (28-4) from the Ivy League upset the more athletic and quick Temple Owls who lost in the first round for the third straight year.
The 29-6 Owls from the Atlantic 10 Conference, never got untracked as Cornell. the best team to come out of the Ivy League in 10 years, never let lost control of the game.
MISSOURI 86 CLEMSON 76
Clemson Head coach Oliver Purnell will have to wait until next year to win an NCAA Tournament game. He has taken three schools to the “Big Dance”, Old Dominion, Dayton and Clemson and has yet to win a game. Clemson ends up at 21-11.
23-10 Missouri was led by Kim English and Keith Ramsey each scoring 20 points and the Tigers swarming defense shut Clemson.
WEST VIRGINIA 77 MORGAN STATE 50
Morgan State (27-10) had delusions of grandeur as they led early in the contest 10-0 while the Mountaineers missed their first 11 shots.
But West Virginia (28-6) rebounded to win the game and advance.
