Red-hot #5 Dayton Flyers hosts rematch today with Duquesne Dukes at 2 pm

24-2 Flyers Have Won 15 Consecutive Games

DAYTON – The University of Dayton Flyers are back home on Tom Blackburn Court Saturday, when the Duquesne Dukes visit UD Arena. Game time is 2 p.m. ET.

Dayton is off to its best start ever at UD at 24-2, with both losses in OT to Top 20-caliber teams — Kansas in the Maui Invitational finals and Colorado in a buzzer-beater at the Chicago Legends.  UD is fifth in both the AP and USA Today Coaches polls.   UD is 13-0 and in first place in the A-10 after Tuesday’s 66-61 win at VCU.  The Flyers have won 15 in a row, fourth-best in D-I.

The game will be carried by WHIO Radio, televised by Stadium (and shown on Fox Sports Ohio in Ohio) and streamed at WatchStadiumcom. Streaming audio, video and stats will be available at DaytonFlyers.com.

THE TRANSFORMED UD ARENA
The University of Dayton has completed a three-year, $76.2 million transformation project of UD Arena in time for the Arena’s 50th anniversary season. The project transformed the 50-year-old facility into a state-of-the-art venue.  The upgrade, the largest construction project in University history, modernizes the Arena without losing the “soul of the bowl” – the atmosphere that has made UD Arena one of the best places to watch college basketball.

#TRENDING
• UD’s 24-2 start is the best in school history.  The previous best was 23-2 in 1957-58.
• Dayton’s No. 5 ranking is its highest since the Flyers were ranked third in the last four polls of the 1955-56 season.   UD has been ranked in the Top 20 for 11 consecutive weeks this year.
• Obi Toppin has been named to the USBWA and Oscar Robertson Mid-Season Watch Lists.  The Athletic named Toppin its Mid-Season Player of the Year in a vote of their college basketball writers and the Sporting News selected him to be one of its First Team Mid-Season All-Americans.  He is on five national player of the year watch lists.
• Toppin had his 100th career dunk during the Virginia Tech game in Maui, which was just his 20th start and 38th career game. He now has 166 in 59 games. He needs 21 points of 1000.
• Seth Davis named Jalen Crutcher college basketball’s “Best Supporting Actor” during CBS Sports’ college basketball studio coverage on Jan. 25.  In Atlantic 10 Conference games, he is the only player in the top six of the guard-oriented stat categories — scoring (6th), assists (6th), FT% (3rd), 3-pt. FG’s (3rd), 3-pt % (2nd) and A/T ratio (1st).
• UD is first nationally in FG% (.521, 762-1462) and is second in assists (17.9).
• Seven different Flyers have scored in double figures this season. Six have led UD in scoring.
• Dayton is 13-0 in any league for the first time in school history.  UD joined the A-10 in 1996.
• Jalen Crutcher scored 18 points to lead UD to Tuesday’s 66-61 win at VCU.  Dayton made just one field goal in the last nine minutes, but made 15 of 19 free throws, including Crutcher going eight-for-eight.  Obi Toppin added 12 points and Trey Landers 11.

UP NEXT
• UD is at George Mason on Tuesday before returning home to play Davidson on Friday.
