BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES

  • Tonight concluded the Blue Jackets’ season series (0-3-1) with the Flyers.
  • Dating back to Dec. 27, 2008, the Blue Jackets have corralled points in 15-of-16 home contests vs. the Flyers (13-1-2).
  • The Blue Jackets played into overtime for the 20th time this season (7-10-3) and fourth time in their last six contests.
  • Columbus has played in one-goal contests (not including empty net goals) in 12 of its last 13 contests.  The Blue Jackets have played in a league-leading 38 true one-goal games.
  • The Jackets produced a multi-goal first period for the 10th time this season with two goals in the opening frame.
  • The Blue Jackets dropped to 6-2-3 in Thursday contests this season, with a 25-6-4 record on the weekday since Mar. 8, 2018.  Tonight was the 11th of 14 Thursday games this season for the club.
  • The Blue Jackets were outshot by the Flyers, 33-to-31 in the contest.
  • Tonight’s attendance was a sellout crowd of 18,365.

BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES

  • LW Nick Foligno, appearing in his 900th NHL game (549 with CBJ, 351 with Ottawa), had a goal and assist for his fourth multi-point game of the season.  The Blue Jackets’ captain has 1-2-3 in his last five games.
  • RW Oliver Bjorkstrand opened the scoring just 44 seconds into the contest with his team-leading 21st goal of the season.  He added an assist on Foligno’s goal to conduct his team-leading 11th multi-point game of the campaign.  He’s currently on a six-game point streak (4-3-7), which ties his career high (3x, MR: 11/19-29, 2019).
  • D Markus Nutivaara, who has 1-3-4 in his last five contests, collected two assists in the game for his fourth-career multi-assist outing.  It was his first multi-point game since Nov. 20, 2017 at Buffalo (0-2-2).
  • D Vladislav Gavrikov picked up an assist on Bjorkstrand’s tally for his 14th point of the season (5-9-14).  He ranks third among CBJ defensemen in points and eighth in the NHL among rookie blueliners.
  • G Elvis Merzlikins made his 28th start of the season and helped Columbus secure a point.  He has earned the Jackets points in 10-of-13 games as the goaltender of record on home ice this season (7-3-3).
  • LW Stefan Matteau scored in his Blue Jackets’ debut tonight.  It was his first NHL game since playing for Vegas on Feb. 23, 2018 vs. Vancouver and first NHL goal since scoring with New Jersey on Dec. 4, 2015 vs. Philadelphia.
  • C Boone Jenner nabbed his 11th assist of the season with the primary helper on Matteau’s goal.  He has 2-2-4 in his past five home games and 4-2-6 in his last nine contests vs. Philadelphia.  He has won 50 pct. or more of his faceoffs in 14 of his last 15 games after winning 7-of-14 faceoffs in tonight’s game.
  • D Zach Werenski led all CBJ skaters with 25:26 TOI in the contest.  He had two shots, a hit, three blocked shots and plus-2 rating in the game.
