Hobey Baker Award represented well in Beanpot Tournament

This year, the Hobey Baker Award celebrates its 40th anniversary of annually honoring college hockey’s top player.  Many past recipients have enjoyed the opportunity to showcase their skills in the Beanpot Tournament.  Boston’s four traditional collegiate hockey powers, who compete for the coveted Beanpot, have produced eleven Hobey Baker winners and 59 players who have been named top ten finalists. Leading the way is Harvard with four past winners, Boston College and Boston University have each had three recipients and Northeastern has had one. By school, the winners include:
Harvard
1983 – Mark Fusco – three-time All American and school record for points by a defenseman
1986 – Scott Fusco – school record of 240 career points – both Fuscos  were 1984 U.S. Olympians
1989 – Lane MacDonald – two-time All American guided Crimson to national championship
2016 – Jimmy Vesey – two-time Hobey hat trick finalist and ECAC Player of the Year
Boston College
1991 – David Emma – set school record for career points and first to have his number retired
2000 – Mike Mottau – sound two-way defenseman who had 44 points in 42 games as a senior
2014 – Johnny Gaudreau – had two points per game leading nation in goals, assists and points
Boston University
1998 – Chris Drury – two-time All American and Hockey East Player of the Year
2009 – Matt Gilroy – three-time Hockey East First Team all-star and won national title
2015 – Jack Eichel – only second freshman to win the Hobey and led nation in scoring
Northeastern
2018 – Adam Gaudette – led nation in scoring while averaging  almost 30 minutes of ice time per contest
