Wright State Raiders ups record to 16-4 with 75-62 win over Cleveland State in Horizon League play

The Wright State men’s basketball team led from the opening tip until the final horn on Thursday night, starting the three-game homestand with a 75-62 victory over visiting Cleveland State inside the Nutter Center.

The win improves the Raiders to 16-4 overall and 6-1 in Horizon League play ahead of a Saturday night contest with Youngstown State, who fell at Northern Kentucky on Thursday.

Tanner Holden led the way for the Raiders with 16 points

Four Raiders finished in double-figures scoring on Thursday night, led by Tanner Holden’s 16 points, who also added nine rebounds and four assists to his stat line. Cole Gentry added 14 points of his own off a 5-of-6 shooting night from the floor with four three-pointers. Loudon Love was 6-of-10 from the floor on his way to 13 points, while Grant Basile tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Basile also added four blocks for the Raiders.

As a team, Wright State finished the night shooting 43 percent (27-of-63) from the floor while hitting eight of its 20 three-point attempts (40 percent). The Raiders held Cleveland State to 38 percent (23-of-60) shooting and a 3-of-9 mark from three-point range. Both teams hit 13 free throws (Wright State: 13-of-24, 54 percent / Cleveland State: 13-of-23, 57 percent).

The Raiders’ bench outscored Cleveland State 24-7 as 10 different Wright State players entered the scoring column, while the Raiders recorded 17 points off of 15 Viking turnovers.

Cleveland State was led by Torrey Patton’s game-high 21 points, one of three players in double-figures along with Craig Beaudion (14 points) and Algevon Eichelberger (13 points).
