Getting to Know Ohio State’s Game 9 opponent, the Maryland Terrapins

Following its second and final off weekend of the 2019 regular season, No. 3 Ohio State begins the stretch run of its season on Saturday with a noon kickoff against Maryland. The Buckeyes have won 14 straight games dating back to last season, the second longest streak in the FBS.

The Buckeyes enter Saturday’s game with top-10 statistical rankings in total offense (sixth, 514.8 yards/game), total defense (second, 224.3 yards/game), scoring offense (third, 48.3 points/game) and scoring defense (first, 7.9 points/game). While the offense has produced 500 or more yards of offense in five of eight games, the Buckeyes’ defense has given up just two touchdowns over the last 12 quarters.

This will be the sixth meeting between the Buckeyes and Terps since Maryland joined the Big Ten in 2014. Ohio State’s won all six games by an average of 31.4 points/game but most recently in 2018 survived with a 52-51 triumph in College Park.
