Cavs off to a decent start to season due to their leader, Kevin Love

The 2019-20 edition of the Cleveland Cavaliers, is the 50th in the franchise’s history. Team was established in the 1969-70 season.

The Cavs are in a rebuilding mode under new head coach John Beilein, who they hired away from the University of Michigan.

The team, one of the youngest in the NBA, does have some veteran firepower in Kevin Love, Jordan Clarkson, Matthew Dellavadova, Larry Nance Jr., Cedi Osman, Tristan Thompson and Ante Zizic. But their young talent has Cleveland fans buzzing with excitement: Darius Garland, Kevin Porter Jr., Collin Sexton and Dylan Windler.

But if the team is to improve from its 19-63 record of last season, Love will have to lead the way every night out. So far he has done that in the early going.

Matter of fact, his start to the season is on par with one of the NBA’s all-time greats.

After 5 games, his start has been on par with 7’1 Wilt Chamberlain, the late great Hall of Fame center. The 6’8 UCLA product hasĀ 86 points, grabbed 84 rebounds and dished out 24 assists. ‘Wilt the Stilt’ achieved that feat back in 1966 and is the only other NBA player who has.

The only problem that ever stopped Love is injuries. If he can stay clear of that for extended periods of time, the Cavs could improve immensely.
