BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES

  • RW Cam Atkinson collected the first goal of Columbus’ 2019-20 campaign with an unassisted power-play goal in the second period.  Atkinson led both teams in shots (seven) and Blue Jackets forwards in ice time (19:38).  The 30-year-old is coming off a career-high 41-goal season.
  • Atkinson has scored in six-straight season-opening games with the power play tally, tying the NHL mark for the longest goal streak in season-opening games.  It has only been accomplished twice previously in NHL history (Mud Bruneteau, DET, 1940-46 and Yvon Cournoyer, MTL, 1973-79).
  • G Joonas Korpisalo got the start in net and made 25 saves.  He has started two-straight season openers after making 18 saves in a 3-2 OTW over Detroit on Oct. 4, 2018.
  • LW Jakob Lilja and RW Emil Bemstrom each made their NHL debuts.  Lilja skated 7:28 while Bemstrom notched 9:10.  Tonight also served as LW Alexandre Texier’s regular-season home debut.
  • RW Josh Anderson fired six shots on net.
  • D Seth Jones played 24:03, tops among Blue Jackets.  He finished fourth in the NHL in TOI last season, averaging 25:49.
