The Otterbein Cardinals had a very disappointing season in 2018, going 1-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference and 2-8 overall. They lost several games in the finals seconds and one on the final possession.

It was the worst season in head coach Tim Doup’s 8 years at the Westerville, Ohio school.

That 2-8 record is misleading, but you are what you are or in this case where what you were.

The Cardinals do have some solid OAC talent. Sr. punter Luke Green-Lauber, Redshirt junior free safety Niall Lewison, sophomore nose guard, Nigel Chatman and senior linebacker Ryan Tuchow, were selected to some form of All-OAC team.

Tuchow, who prepped at nearby Ohio Capital Conference juggernaut, Hilliard Davidson High School, was one of the leaders on a defense that finished in the top five of the OAC at number 3.

Tuchow had a breakout season. He finished fourth in the league in tackles (94), sixth in tackles for loss (15). He had double-digit stops in five games, including a career-high and phenomenal 17 against the Heidelberg Student Princes. He also had four QB sacks.

He was selected 2nd team All-OAC.

Tuchow, who wears number 14, is 5’11, 225 pounds.
