Today’s Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Beloit Snappers (affiliate of the Oakland Athletics) in the first game of a three-game series.

2019 Season Series between Dayton and Beloit:  First meeting tonight.  Record on current homestand:  2-4.

Last Game:  Friday:  Wisconsin 4, Dayton 2.  The Timber Rattlers scored single runs in four different innings and thwarted Dayton’s comeback hopes to win the series, two games to one.  Dayton went 1 for 9 with men in scoring position, unable to produce the big hit to cut into the Wisconsin lead.  The Timber Rattlers led 3-1 after three innings and built their lead to 4-1 in the sixth.  Dayton’s Pabel Manzanero had a home run and double, driving in both Dragons runs.  Michael Siani also had two hits.

Team Notes

  • Dragons pitchers allowed just five earned runs (1.67 ERA) in the three-game series with Wisconsin, but the team lost two of three.  Dragons relievers allowed two runs in 14 innings.
  • Pabel Manzanero has a nine-game hitting streak, going 16-38 (.421).  In the Second Half, Manzanero leads the league in extra base hits (13) and doubles (10).  He ranks 4th in slugging percentage (.568), 7th in OPS (.909), and 9th in batting average (.333).
  • Bren Spillane over his last 11 games is batting .421 (16 for 38). 
  • Mariel Bautista is hitting .300 in 17 games since returning from the injured list.  He was out for 31 days with a shoulder injury.
  • Ricky Salinas has been chosen as the Cincinnati Reds Minor League Pitcher of the Month for June.  Salinas in June:  5 GS, 2-0, 1.03 ERA, 26.1 IP, 17 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 7 BB, 22 SO, .181 Opps. Avg.  Salinas over his last seven starts is 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA (37.1 IP, 7 ER).
  • Matt Pidich over his last 16 games:  1.20 ERA, 30 IP, 18 H, 9 R, 4 ER, 10 BB, 29 SO.
