Cleveland Indians teamming up with Sportstime Ohio, iHeartRadio and 100.7 WMMS to re-broadcast 2017 games of the 22-game winning streak

The 22-game streak will run on STO, 100.7 WMMS and the Indians Radio Network starting May 4 and concluding on Memorial Day

Cleveland, OH—The Cleveland Indians announced today the team’s historic 2017 22-game win streak will be broadcast on SportsTime Ohio and select stations of the Indians Radio Network during the month of May, running 22 straight nights from May 4 until May 25.

First pitch will take place at 7 p.m. ET every night, with the exception of 8 p.m. starts Saturday’s on SportsTime Ohio only (radio will stay at 7 p.m. ET). Tribe fans will have a myriad of listening options with the ability to tune in to SportsTime Ohio to watch with Matt Underwood, Rick Manning and Andre Knott, or tune the radio dial locally to WMMS and select Indians Radio Network partners to listen to the vocal stylings of Tom Hamilton and Jim Rosenhaus.

The Indians 22-game streak took place from Aug. 24 to Sept. 14, 2017, establishing the longest winning streak in American League history and the second longest such streak in Major League history behind only a 26-game streak by the 1916 New York Giants. The accomplishment established the longest streak winning streak in Cleveland franchise history (prev. 14 wins June 17-July 1, 2016), culminating with a walk-off win at Progressive Field when Jay Bruce ended a 10.0-inning affair against Kansas City with an RBI-double.

During the entire 22-game streak the Indians will host an online 50/50 raffle presented by SportsTime Ohio and 100.7 WMMS. The raffle will run from game one on May 4 until game 22 on May 25. Half of the pot will go towards Cleveland Indians Charities’ support of youth in Northeast Ohio. Fans can enter the 50/50 raffle at www.Tribe5050.com.

Ken “Hawk” Harrelson issued the following statement today in response to the cancellation of 2020 Hall of Fame induction weekend:

“This was absolutely the right decision. Everyone’s safety — the fans, the Hall of Famers, their families and friends — is the most important concern. We all need to stay safe and healthy. I do feel badly for the people of Cooperstown and the staff at the Hall of Fame because of what the weekend means to the area, but we all will have fun in July 2021 when we all can join together safely to celebrate two classes on induction weekend.”

National Baseball Hall of Fame cancels 2020 Induction Ceremony

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announced today that its Board of Directors has voted unanimously to cancel 2020 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend events as a result of health and safety concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Induction Weekend is a celebration of our National Pastime and its greatest legends, and while we are disappointed to cancel this incredibly special event, the Board of Directors’ overriding concern is the health and well-being of our new inductees, our Hall of Fame members, our wonderful fans and the hundreds of staff it takes to present the weekend’s events in all of its many facets,” said Jane Forbes Clark, Chairman of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. “We care deeply about every single person who visits Cooperstown.”

“In heeding the advice of government officials as well as federal, state and local medical and scientific experts, we chose to act with extraordinary caution in making this decision,” Clark continued. “The Board of Directors has decided that the Class of 2020 will be inducted and the 2020 Award Winners will be honored as part of next summer’s Hall of Fame Weekend, taking place July 23-26, 2021.”

The Class of 2020 – consisting of Derek Jeter, Marvin Miller, Ted Simmons and Larry Walker – will be inducted on Sunday, July 25, 2021, in Cooperstown, alongside any new members elected as part of the Hall of Fame Class of 2021. The Awards Presentation on Saturday, July 24, 2021 will recognize the Hall of Fame’s 2020 and 2021 Award Winners, including 2020 J.G. Taylor Spink Award winner Nick Cafardo, 2020 Ford C. Frick Award winner Hawk Harrelson and the winner of the 2020 Buck O’Neil Lifetime Achievement Award, David Montgomery.

“It was a very difficult decision, but with so many unknowns facing the world, the Board felt strongly that this was the right decision,” said Hall of Fame member Joe Morgan, Vice Chairman of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s Board of Directors. “Our Class of 2020 electees should enjoy the same wonderful experience that I did when I was elected, and they will have that opportunity next summer.”

“I fully understand and agree with the Board’s decision,” said Class of 2020 Hall of Fame member Larry Walker. “It is most important to do the right thing for everybody involved, and that means not putting any participants in jeopardy, whether Hall of Famers or visitors. I realize how serious this situation has become and how many lives have been lost.”

“It’s clear that cancelling this year’s Induction Ceremony was the appropriate decision,” said Class of 2020 Hall of Fame member Ted Simmons. “I commend the Board for making this decision under these difficult circumstances, particularly in New York, a state severely hit by the pandemic. This was the wisest and smartest thing to do, given the existing environment and the danger that this pandemic presents.”

“Being inducted into the Hall of Fame will be an incredible honor, but the health and safety of everyone involved are paramount,” said Class of 2020 Hall of Fame member Derek Jeter. “I respect and support the decision to postpone this year’s enshrinement and am looking forward to joining current Hall of Famers, fans, staff and my family and friends in Cooperstown in 2021.”

“Most importantly, is to maintain the integrity of the process and honoring the inductees in the proper way they are most deserving of,” said Hall of Fame member Ozzie Smith, also a member of the Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors.

The Hall of Fame has held an Induction Ceremony in Cooperstown every year since 1961. An Induction Ceremony was not held in 1950, 1958 and 1960 after voting resulted in no new electees, while no elections were held in 1940, 1941 and 1943. In 1942, Rogers Hornsby was elected but an Induction Ceremony was not held due to travel restrictions related to World War II.

Next summer’s Induction Ceremony will be the first since 1949 to combine multiple classes of electees. The first four Classes of Hall of Fame members, elected from 1936-39, were all enshrined on June 12, 1939, the day of the Museum’s formal opening. The Classes of 1946 and 1947 were inducted together in 1947, and the Classes of 1948 and 1949 were inducted together in 1949.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum remains closed to the public. Updated information regarding this closure is being provided every Sunday at noon ET at baseballhall.org and via the Hall of Fame’s social media channels.

Toronto Blue Jays announces ticket policy for home games through May 31

Refunds and account credits now available for games originally scheduled in March, April, and May

The Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday announce the team’s ticket policy for games through May 31.

Refunds for games scheduled to take place between March 26 to May 31, inclusive, are now available for all ticket and suite products. Purchasers of Season Ticket Memberships, Ticket Packs, Group tickets, and Executive Suite licences will receive an account credit, with the option to obtain a refund, while fans with single game tickets can request a refund through their Ticketmaster account. Fans who purchased tickets from a secondary site should reach out to the company’s customer service department.

Affected ticket buyers will be contacted directly with more information about their options. Fans can also visit bluejays.com/tickets.

The Blue Jays would like to thank fans for their incredible support and patience during this difficult time. The club will continue to communicate updates about the 2020 schedule as they become available.

San Diego Padres announce refund, loyalty credit & exchange options for home games through May 31

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres announced Wednesday that the Club is providing refund, loyalty credit and exchange options for all ticket holders who purchased tickets for games originally scheduled through May 31 of the 2020 season.

Padres Season Ticket Members will be contacted by their representative or may call the Padres at 619.795.5020 to discuss their options. Members will have the opportunity to receive a refund for the affected games or apply their refund amount to 2021 season membership and receive a loyalty credit that includes a package of benefits designed to thank our most loyal fans for their continued support of the Padres.

Single-game ticket holders who purchased through Ticketmaster.com or Padres.com may request a refund for all affected games through their Ticketmaster account. Single-game tickets purchased directly with the Padres may be refunded through a link found in today’s email communication from the Padres or exchanged for future Padres games.

As additional information becomes available regarding the resumption of the 2020 season, we will provide updates to all Padres ticket holders. We appreciate the patience and unwavering support of our fans during this time and look forward to playing baseball again in San Diego.
