Reds lead MLB in First Inning Scoring

There is no doubt, the Cincinnati Reds have been one of baseball’s surprise team in 2019.

Under first year manager, David Bell, the team has shown an explosive offense, solid starting pitching, depth and a good bench. They have given the top three teams in the Central Division fits all season: the Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. and they have passed their arch-rival Pittsburgh Pirates and moved into fourth place. That in itself shows improvement. Until this year, fifth place has been the Reds home the past several seasons.

FIRST WATCH In the first inning, the Redlegs lead the Major Leagues in runs (115), HR (42), RBI (112), batting average (.306), slugging percentage (.595) and run differential (+38; Min 2nd, +37) while ranking third in the majors in on-base percentage (.367; NYM .369, Hou .368)…have outscored opponents in the first frame, 115-76, and are 32-11 (.744) when leading after the first inning…6 times this season scored at least 4 runs in the first inning.
