Flex Plans coming soon as Ohio State Football Season tickets go on sale next week for 2019

Limited number of four- and three-game packages – a first! – will be available in June

 

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Department of Athletics will offer a full season ticket package to the general public beginning Monday, May 13, and then in June will, for the first time, offer a trio of flexible ticketing options designed to make Ohio State football game days more accessible to more fans.

 

“We understand this new ticket marketplace and that fans want options,” Diana Sabau, deputy director of athletics, said. “We have inventory and we want to respond to the needs of Buckeye Nation. We realize it can be difficult to commit to a full season ticket, so we want to provide numerous ticket buying alternatives to make Ohio State games more accessible to more fans.”

 

Full season ticket packages for east side stadium seats will go on sale online Monday at http://go.osu.edu/FBTix, and then flexible, three- and four-game ticketing plans that won’t require a Buckeye Club membership will be available for purchase in June.

 

The new, flexible ticket plan options for the 2019 football season include the following:

§  100 percent digital plan with seat location sent to your mobile phone the Friday before the game

§  A unique seat location for each game, ensuring various viewpoints/experiences for the games

§  A limited number of four-game packages priced at $249

Crew SC’s Aboubacar Keita gets International Callup to play for USA National U-20 Team

Keita earns a call-up from the United States Under-20 Men’s National Team ahead of FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland

 

COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew SC on May 10 announced that defender Aboubacar Keita has received an international call-up from the United States Under-20 Men’s National Team. Keita is one of 21 players named to the U.S. roster and is set to join the American squad ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, which runs from May 23 – June 15.

“We are proud that Aboubacar is among the 21 players named to represent the United States on the world’s stage at the Under-20 FIFA World Cup roster,” said Crew SC President Tim Bezbatchenko. “The fact that one of our Crew SC Academy graduates will feature at the U-20 World Cup in Poland is a testament to the work put in by Aboubacar and of course our Academy and First Team staff over the years. Today is certainly a proud moment for the Black & Gold family.”

ABOUBACAR KEITA

The U.S. is in Group B, alongside Nigeria, Qatar and Ukraine. The Stars and Stripes are set to face Ukraine on Friday, May 4 at Bielsko-Biala Stadium in Bielsko-Biala, Poland, to begin the tournament. The Americans then play against Nigeria on Monday, May 2, in Bielsko-Biala Stadium, before facing Qatar on Thursday, May 30 at Tychy Stadium, Poland, to finish out the Group Stage. For the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the top two teams of each group and the four best third-placed teams are set to advance to the Round of 16.

Keita, 19, is a graduate of the Crew SC Academy, where he played from 2016-2018, featuring for the Under-17/18 and U-18/19 squads. In all, the 19-year-old made 43 appearances (42 starts) for Crew SC Academy, scoring one goal. During his time with the Crew SC Academy, Keita played under Crew SC First Team Assistant Coach Ben Cross. Before he joined Crew SC Academy, Keita played for Santos FC in Columbus.

The defender was signed by the Crew as a Homegrown Player on January 22, 2019. Keita has played on loan with the Richmond Kickers of the USL League One, making two appearances (one start). Prior to joining the Crew SC First Team, Keita started every match for the University of Virginia in 2018, making 17 appearances (all starts) and scoring one goal. At the international level, Keita has also previously featured for the U.S. U-19 side.

Crew SC host the LA Football Club tonight; MLS leader is tough to beat and score on

Crew’s third match in eight days

 

 

 

 

Columbus Crew SC prepares to host the second of the two LA teams this week when the Club faces Los Angeles Football Club on Saturday, May 11 at MAPFRE Stadium.

The Crew (5-6-1, 16 pts.) are building off of a 3-1 victory against the LA Galaxy from Wednesday night that helped end a five-game losing stint, as the win helped push the Black & Gold up to fifth in the Eastern Conference Standings.

As for LAFC (7-1-3, 24 pts.), they are coming off of a 0-0 draw against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, May 4 at Banc of California Stadium. The team currently sits alone atop the Western Conference standings and is tied for the lead in goals conceded with eight through 11 matches. They also are second in the League for successful passes (4,915), behind only Crew SC (5,217).

Scoring-wise LAFC is led by Golden Boot front-runner, Carlos Vela and his League-high 11 goals, followed by teammate Diego Rossi’s six. Vela was also named the MLS Player of the Month presented by EA Sports for both March and April. Additionally, LAFC leads the League in chances created from both open play and set plays, resulting in their League-leading 26 goals to date in the 2019 regular season.

Black & Gold acquire 28-year-old midfielder in exchange for Target Allocation Money, General Allocation Money and an International Roster Spot for the 2019 MLS season;
Accam has made 109 regular-season appearances while scoring 38 goals and providing 17 assists since joining MLS ahead of the 2015 season

 

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC on May 8 announced that the club has acquired Ghanaian midfielder David Accam (pronounced: uh-KAHM) from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money, $400,000 in General Allocation Money and an International Roster Spot for the 2019 Major League Soccer season. Accam, 28, is in his fifth Major League Soccer season and has made 109 appearances (83 starts) while scoring 38 goals and providing 17 assists since joining the League. At the international level, Accam has represented the Ghana National Team on nine occasions.

“We want to welcome David Accam to Columbus Crew SC as David is a fast, dynamic player and a proven attacking threat in MLS,” said Crew SC President Tim Bezbatchenko. “In addition to having experience in the League, we believe David’s specific skillset will help us bolster the attack of our current roster and we look forward to his contributions to the Club this season.”

Accam joins Crew SC from the Philadelphia Union, where he played from 2018-2019. During his time in Philadelphia, Accam made 31 regular-season appearances (17 starts), while scoring five goals and providing two assists. Prior to joining the Union, Accam spent three seasons with the Chicago Fire from 2015-2017, making 78 regular-season appearances (66 starts) as well as registering 33 goals and 15 assists. The 28-year-old scored at least nine goals during each of his three seasons with Chicago, tallying 10 goals and two assists in 2015 – his MLS debut season – and recorded nine goals and five assists in 2016, en route to winning the Chicago Fire’s Most Valuable Player Award and the Chicago Fire’s Golden Boot Award both years. In 2017, his last season with the Fire, Accam registered an MLS career-high 14 goals and eight assists.

Prior to joining MLS, Accam, a graduate of the Right to Dream Academy, spent 2012 with Ostersund of Sweden’s Third Division before signing with Helsingborg of Sweden’s topflight. Accam played for Helsingborg from 2012-2014, making 81 appearances across all competitions, while tallying 38 goals and 11 assists. Accam’s tenure with Heldingborg included a two-leg series in 2012 against Celtic of Scotland’s topflight in UEFA Champions League Qualifying, with the Ghanaian featuring in each of the matches. Additionally, Accam made six appearances in the 2012-2013 UEFA Europa League campaign, tallying one assist during a 2-2 home draw against FC Twente Enschede of the Netherlands (October 4, 2012) in a Group Stage match.

At the international level, Accam has earned nine caps with the Ghana National Team, making his debut in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations during a Group Stage match against Senegal on January 19. The midfielder scored his first goal with the Black Stars during a 7-1 home victory over Mauritania in an Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier on June 14, 2015.

Black & Gold send defender Lalas Abubakar on season-long loan to Colorado in exchange for $125,000 in Targeted Allocation Money

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC on May 8 announced that the it has acquired $125,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) from the Colorado Rapids. In exchange, Crew SC sent defender Lalas Abubakar on loan for the remainder of the 2019 Major League Soccer season.

“We believe that this MLS season-long loan will give Lalas the opportunity to gain valuable minutes,” said Crew SC President Tim Bezbatchenko. “The Targeted Allocation Money we have received in exchange will benefit us as we continue to shape our roster.”

Abubakar, 24, was selected by the Crew in the First Round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, with the fifth overall pick. To date, he has made 31 regular-season appearances (27 starts) and scored two goals for the Black & Gold. Prior to joining Crew SC, Abubakar played three seasons at the University of Dayton from 2014-2016, making 61 appearances (60 starts), scoring four goals and recording six assists during his time there.
TRANSACTION: Columbus Crew SC acquired $125,000 in Targeted Allocation Money from the Colorado Rapids. In exchange, the Black & Gold sent defender Lalas Abubakar on loan to Colorado for the remainder of the 2019 MLS season. The announcement was made on May 8, 2019.
