Three-time Pro Bowler MARK BRUNELL, three-time Super Bowl champion WILLIE McGINEST and two-time AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award winner CHAD PENNINGTON will serve as NFL Play Football Legends Ambassadors, the NFL announced in Orlando.

Introduced at the 2019 NFL Play Football Opening Night, the Legends Ambassadors will serve as mentors throughout the week-long celebration of youth and high school football taking place at the Pro Bowl. The three Legends Ambassadors will represent NFL Youth and High School football by fostering connections with youth, parents, coaches, schools and NFL clubs.

“These NFL Legends not only understand football from playing at all levels at the highest competition, but also the incredible value football brings to living life,” said TROY VINCENT, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations. “Their experience, enthusiasm and commitment to developing the next generation of football athletes is inspirational to youth, parents and coaches.”

MARK BRUNELL: Brunell enjoyed a 19-year NFL playing experience, highlighted by his nine seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars where he was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and holds the franchise record for passing yards, passing touchdowns and most 300-yard games. He also played for the Green Bay Packers, Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets in his career and was a member of New Orleans’ Super Bowl XLIV winning team. Brunell remains active in the football community, currently serving as the head coach for the Episcopal School of Jacksonville.

WILLIE McGINEST: A two-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time Super Bowl champion, McGinest was a vital member of the New England Patriots dynasty of the early 2000s. His 15-year NFL playing experience was highlighted by his 12 seasons with New England, where he recorded an NFL-record 16 postseason sacks, including a single-game playoff record 4.5 sacks in the Patriots’ 2005 AFC Wild Card game. McGinest, who finished his career with the Cleveland Browns, currently serves as an analyst for the NFL Network.

CHAD PENNINGTON: A first-round draft pick of the New York Jets in 2000, Pennington enjoyed an 11-year NFL playing experience with the Jets and Miami Dolphins. The Marshall University graduate is the only player in league history to win the AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award twice, doing so in 2006 and 2008, when he also finished second in MVP voting. Pennington ranks fourth in Jets franchise history in completions (1,259), passing yards (13,378) and passing touchdowns (82). BURNS NIGHT

The birthday of Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796), has become an occasion for Scots all over the world to gather together in his honor. A Burns Night supper usually includes haggis, a traditional dish of the heart, lungs, and liver of a sheep or calf minced with suet, onions, oatmeal, and seasonings. Burns’s words, “Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o’ the pudding-race!” greets the dish’s entry into the room. Men wear kilts and women their tartan sashes, and the evening’s celebration includes reading Burns’s poems and singing his songs, ending with one of his most famous, “Auld Lang Syne.” Most of us are familiar with the first verse, “Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And auld lang syne.”
