Deep Northland Vikings wear down young Centennial Stars

On a beautiful night at Centennial high school, The Northland Vikings came into the stadium coming off a huge 28-21 win over Granville. With Centennial a surprising 2-1. The Stars had some momentum.
In the first half it was a slug fest. Northland led by the Branham brothers, The Stars knew that they had to keep them in check. Centennial forced a couple drive stalling drives. Senior defensive end Kari Woods and Sophomore Defensive end Justin Grimes led the way on what was a dominating first half by the Stars defense.
Late in the first half Northland made a huge stop and forced a punt. Senior running back John Branham would take back a 61 yard punt return that would start the scoring.
The second half was totally different for the Stars as mental mistakes and penalties derailed them, as they allowed short fields for Vikings. The biggest plays were the 3rd down tight end drag routes from Kalil Branham to Josh Moore. Kalil Branham would also take a  run back for touchdown. It was John Branham that was the work horse scoring on 3 of the 4 touchdowns in the second half for the Northland Vikings. Northland now 1-0 in the North Division with a big advantage in what is an unusual weak city league north. As for Centennial they are a very talented football team that is very young. Look for the Stars to continue to get better and fix their mental mistakes and make a run for the playoffs.
Next for the Northland Vikings is a home game against the Mifflin Punchers and Centennial travel to Lucas for non league match up.
