29-year-old Graham Rahal drives the #15 car for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Born in Columbus, Ohio, grew up in the suburb of New Albany, Graham is the son of 1986 Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal. In 10 years driving in IndyCar. he has 150 starts with 6 wins, 3 poles and has won 5 races since 2015. He is married to Courtney Force, NHRA star and daughter of the legendary racer, John Force. Graham would love to win the Indy 500 someday.

Hot Crew SC travels to Sporting KC for Sunday battle looking to continue shutout streak

COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew SC travels to Children’s Mercy Park to face Sporting Kansas City tomorrow, Sunday, May 27, in a nationally televised clash and the lone regular-season meeting between the two clubs in 2018. The match kicks-off at 6:00 p.m. ET and is set to be televised nationally on FS1 with Nate Bukaty, Dan Kennedy and Katie Witham calling match action. Tomorrow’s match also airs locally on the radio on CD102.5 FM in English with pre-match coverage hosted by Dwight Burgess beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET. Neil Sika will have the CD 102.5 FM call of the match at 6:00 p.m. ET, with post-match coverage to follow. The club’s official website, ColumbusCrewSC.com, is set to stream the English-language radio broadcast online as well as host the Spanish-language audio broadcast with Juan Valladares behind the microphone.

Last week, Crew SC left Gillette Stadium with three points thanks to a late goal from Lalas Abubakar. In the 85th minute, Federico Higuain delivered a corner kick to Abubakar who headed it nicely inside the far post for the victory over the New England Revolution.

Sporting Kansas City is coming off of a draw at Minnesota United. Both teams produced a goal in the first half but neither side was able to find a winner through the duration of the game.

In their last meeting, Crew SC and Sporting KC split points at MAPFRE Stadium. An early lead by Sporting KC gave way to an equalizer from Columbus at the end of the first half. Midfielder Pedro Santos sent a corner kick to Ola Kamara who delivered to the back of the net. Crew SC is 22-25-7 all time against Sporting KC.

The Black & Gold currently have the longest active shutout streak in Major League Soccer this season as the club has gone 405 minutes without conceding a goal. Columbus remains unbeaten in six games with four consecutive shutouts.

37-year-old New Zealander, Scott Dixon is always great with the media. He has been the IndyCar champion four times: 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2015. He has won the Indy 500 once in 2008. He talked to the media Thursday afternoon about the new car the drivers are driving and about managing fuel on an oval track.

Dixon was born in Australia, but is a citizen of New Zealand.

He has the most wins of any active Verizon IndyCar series driver with 41 and that ranks fourth all-time.

2018 is his 17th season driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, the longest tenure of any driver in that team’s history.

Blue Jackets sign center Alexandre Texier to three-year entry level contract

COLUMBUS, OHIO — The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed center Alexandre Texier to a three-year entry level contract, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

 

Texier, 18, registered 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points with 38 penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating, while averaging 13:23 of ice time in 53 games with KalPa of Finland’s top professional league (Liiga) in 2017-18.  In his first Liiga season, the club’s youngest player finished third in goals, fourth-T in game-winning goals (two), fifth-T in power play goals (two), sixth in penalty minutes and ninth in points.  He also added 1-1-2 and 25 penalty minutes in six playoff contests.

 

“Alexandre is a very smart, skilled player with a very good shot and extraordinary vision to make plays all over the ice,” said Kekalainen.  “He is a young player who had a very good rookie season with KalPa and we are excited to watch his continued development as he gets bigger and stronger physically.”

 

The Grenoble, France native notched 10-9-19 and 69 penalty minutes in 40 games with Grenoble in France’s top professional league in 2016-17 and was awarded the Jean-Pierre Graff Trophy as the league’s Best Young Player.  He added 5-5-10 and 12 penalty minutes in 12 postseason contests to help the club capture the French Cup championship.

 

Texier was selected by the Blue Jackets in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2017 NHL Draft.  He has represented France at various international tournaments, including posting 0-3-3 and 10 penalty minutes in seven contests at the recently completed 2018 IIHF World Championships in Denmark.  He also skated in the 2017 and 2018 IIHF World Junior Division 1A Championships.
