NHL, Toronto Maple Leafs and adidas unveil 2018 Coors Light Stadium Series Uniform

Toronto / New York / Portland, Ore. (February 10, 2018) – The Toronto Maple Leafs, the National Hockey League (NHL®) and adidas today unveiled the new adidas ADIZERO Authentic NHL uniform the team will wear in the 2018 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™. Specifically designed for this game, the special edition uniform will make its on-ice debut when the Maple Leafs take on the Washington Capitals outdoors at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, home of the NCAA Division I, Navy Midshipmen, in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday, March 3 (8 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, TVAS).

Inspired by the Maple Leafs’ classic identity and fused with the most advanced uniform technologies available in the new adidas adizero Authentic NHL uniforms, the 2018 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™ uniform is a clean and bold visual statement for the team from the north. Utilizing the classic striping of Maple Leafs uniforms both past and present, the stripes are emphasized to create a bolder, more visually pronounced statement and to be more recognizable in the larger outdoor stadium setting.

In keeping with the Maple Leafs’ recent rebranding, their iconic logo is unchanged and executed in white with a blue outline to accentuate the amount of white on the uniform, symbolizing in color the “team from the north” narrative. Additional design details include a salute to the Royal Canadian Navy with their credo “Ready, Aye, Ready” on the inside collar. The Maple Leafs’ inspiring “Honour. Pride. Courage” appears as a tonal deboss on the top stripe of the left sleeve. To complete the look, the jersey is donned with a special edition 2018 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™ patch on the right sleeve.

At the forefront of innovation, design and craftsmanship, the adidas adizero Authentic jersey takes the hockey jersey silhouette to the next level by redefining fit, feel and lightweight construction. The adidas adizero Authentic jersey is lighter, cooler and stronger, featuring adizero lightweight cresting and twill numbers, adidas Clima® technology and Aeroknit detailing, the platinum NHL Shield and an interior fight strap.

The special edition Maple Leafs adidas adizero Authentic Pro NHL Stadium Series™ jersey and the Fanatics “Breakaway” replica NHL Stadium Series™ jersey are available online at shop.nhl.comNHLShop.ca, adidas.comadidas.CA and shop.realsports.ca. In addition, the jersey is available for purchase in-store today at Real Sports Apparel at Air Canada Centre in Toronto and the NHL Store NYC in New York.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S BIRTHDAY

The 16th president of the United States was born on the morning of Sunday, February 12, 1809, in a one-room, 16×18-foot, log cabin with a dirt floor. Called Sinking Spring Farm, the land was situated near Hodgenville, Kentucky. Abe’s father, Thomas, was a farmer and carpenter, and his mother, Nancy, was a seamstress. His sister, Sarah, was 2 at the time. Abraham was named after his paternal grandfather. Lincoln pursued a legal career before turning to a political one that eventually led to the U.S. presidency. In addition to his more famous achievements, Lincoln is the only U.S. president to have received a U.S. patent, for something he described in this way: “A new and improved manner of combining adjustable buoyant air chambers with a steamboat or other vessel for the purpose of enabling their draught of water to be readily lessened to enable them to pass over bars, or through shallow water, without discharging their cargoes.” If you can’t get to Washington, D.C., honor Lincoln by visiting the Lincoln Memorial, part of our National Park System.

First Concert at Kauffman Stadium in 39 Years; The Only Show in the State of Missouri in 2018

The Kansas City Royals and Live Nation are proud to announce legendary musician Billy Joel will perform at Kauffman Stadium on Friday, September 21 at 8:00 p.m. This performance will be Billy Joel’s first ever stadium appearance in Kansas City and the first concert at Kauffman Stadium in 39 years. Tickets start at $49.50 and go on sale to the general public Friday, January 26, at 10:00 a.m. CT.

“Kauffman Stadium has hosted four World Series and an All-Star Game since its last concert in 1979,” said Kevin Uhlich, Royals Senior Vice President of Business Operations. “We are extremely excited to once again bring live music back to our venue, and we can’t think of a better artist to do that than the ‘Piano Man’ himself, Billy Joel. This promises to be an extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime concert.

In December 2013, Billy Joel became Madison Square Garden’s first-ever music franchise, joining the ranks of the storied venue’s other original franchises – the New York Knicks, Rangers and Liberty. Since January 2014, Joel has played one show per month at The Garden. This unprecedented and wildly-successful residency has led to 53 sold-out shows thus far.

Billy Joel is one of the biggest concert draws in the world and continues this achievement with an impressive run of sold-out consecutive stadium shows and concert arenas. Having sold 150 million records over the past quarter century, scoring 33 consecutive Top 40 hits, Billy Joel ranks as one of most popular recording artists and respected entertainers in history. The singer/songwriter/composer is the sixth best-selling recording artist of all time and the third best-selling solo artist. In 2016, the Library of Congress selected “Piano Man” for preservation in the National Recording Registry for its “cultural, historic, and artistic significance.”

In November 2014, Billy Joel received both The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song which honors living musical artists’ lifetime achievement in promoting the genre of song as a vehicle of cultural understanding; entertaining and informing audiences; and inspiring new generations, and the once-in-a-century ASCAP Centennial Award, which is presented to American music icons in recognition of their incomparable accomplishments in their respective music genres and beyond.

In December 2013, Joel received The Kennedy Center Honors, one of the United States’ top cultural awards. He is also the recipient of six GRAMMY® Awards, including the prestigious Grammy Legend Award. Joel has been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has received numerous industry awards including a TONY AWARD for “Movin’ Out,” a Broadway musical based on Joel’s music. For his accomplishments as a musician and as a humanitarian, Joel was honored as the 2002 MusiCares Person Of The Year by the MusiCares Foundation and the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.

Joel has also performed alongside other music greats at two of Madison Square Garden’s most extraordinary benefit concerts – “12-12-12, The Concert For Sandy Relief,” which raised awareness and money for those affected by Hurricane Sandy and “The Concert for New York City,” which was held to help aid 9/11 victims and heroes. Billy Joel received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, adding another milestone to his brilliant career.

Citi® cardmembers will have access to purchase presale tickets beginning Monday, January 22 at 10AM until Thursday, January 25 at 10PM local time through Citi’s Private Pass® program. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning at 10:00 a.m. on January 26. Tickets will be available at royals.com/billyjoel
