Week 8 opens in Columbus City League as Scots and Red Devils look to stay unbeaten

Friday October 20, Week 9 City League Schedule:

North Division

Columbus City League unbeaten football teams down to two!

There are only two unbeatens teams in the Columbus City League at 7-0.

Walnut Ridge and Marion-Franklin! They will meet in Week 9 on our 1ST & GOAL Broadcast.

 

Week 7 in Columbus City League saw an upset in the South Division and three shutouts in the North Division

Week 7 results in the Columbus City League:

SOUTH DIVISION

*Eastmoor Academy seems to always beat Independence and did it again on Friday night, 39-22.

The 76ers outgained the Warriors 31-301. Demontae Taylor had 30 carries for 194 yards, 1 TD for the 76ers.

The Warriors were led by RB Savon Edwards who totaled 114 yards on the ground with 5 touchdowns.

Eastmoor Academy blew the game open with a 19-point 3rd quarter.

Independence loses for the first time in dropping to 6-1.

*West knocked down South, 36-6. The Whites led the way as they usually do for the Cowboys.

QB Christian White rushed for 115 yards with a rushing TD and a passing TD.

RB Michael White scored the game’s first three TD’s. He carried 19 times for 143 yards.

*In our ”1ST & GOAL” feature game, Walnut Ridge dominated Africentric, 45-14. The Scots remain undefeated on the season at 7-0.

QB Isaiah Murphy accounted for 5 touchdowns, WR Calvin Dawson had 5 receptions for 118 yards and WR Qian Magwood had 77 receiving yards and a pair of TD’s in leading the Scots offensive attack.

*Marion-Franklin made Briggs pass the ball as they held the Bruins to minus-7 yards rushing in a 53-26 rout.

The Red Devils move to 7-0 in their turnaround season from 3-7 a year ago.

The Red Devils were led by Davion Upchurch who scored 3 touchdowns.

Bruins QB Nate Hall had a helter-skelter game with 4 TD’s but also 3 INTS.

Jalin Lake caught 7 passes for 176 yards and two TD’s.

NORTH DIVISION

*Beechcroft shutout Centennial, 32-0. The annual North champions are peaking at the right time!

QB Jovaughn Hill threw for 3 touchdowns.

*Northland also pulled off a shutout by blanking Linden McKinley, 28-0.

Mark Lee intercepted three Panthers passes.

*Mifflin posted the third shutout in the North Division, with a 20-0 blanking of Whetstone.

QB Daveonn Logan accounted for a 3 Punchers touchdowns.

*The East Tigers played a non-conference game by traveling to Gahanna to play Columbus Academy. The Tigers lost 45-22 and fall to 0-7.

QB Matthew Saling was 17 of 21 passing for 159 yards and 3 TD’s.
