George Mason’s Livingston, St. Bonaventure’s Mobley named A-10 Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — George Mason’s Otis Livingston II, and St. Bonaventure’s Matt Mobley were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week while Rhode Island freshman Jeff Dowtin earned Rookie of the Week honors. The awards, announced Monday and presented by Come Ready Nutrition, are for games played Jan. 30– Feb. 5.

Livingston averaged 24 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 75 percent from the floor (15-of-20) in two games for the Patriots this past week. The sophomore guard from Linden, N.J., also made 8-of-10 3-pointers (.800) and 10-of-11 free throws (.909). On Wednesday at Saint Louis, Livingston totaled a career-high 29 points and made 10-of-15 field goals while grabbing four rebounds in a double-overtime thriller. On Saturday in a win over La Salle, Livingston couldn’t miss, making 5-of-5 shots from the floor, 3-of-3 three-pointers and 6-of-6 shots from the free throw line. He finished with 19 points and dished out three assists in the contest.

Mobley, a junior guard from Worcester, Mass. averaged 28.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals and went 11-for-11 from the charity stripe in two games this past week. He set a school record with his nine 3-pointers against VCU. His 34 points against the Rams were a new career high. Mobley was 9-for-15 from deep in the game including the go-ahead shot with 0.4 seconds left in regulation. In St. Bonaventure’s win at Duquesne, his game-high 22 points included 14 in the second half as the Bonnies held on for the road win.

Dowtin averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 60 percent from 3-point range in a 2-0 week for Rhode Island. The freshman from Upper Marlboro, Md., earned his fifth and sixth starts of the season at point guard. Dowtin connected on 5-of-10 from the floor while dishing out four assists in 37 minutes of play against George Washington. The guard had the best game of his collegiate career at Davidson, pouring in 19 points (7-for-11 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range) and four assists in 36 minutes.

Davidson’s Peyton Aldridge finished the week averaging 19.0 points and 10.5 rebounds, while shooting 51.9 percent from the floor, including an 8-for-8 effort at the charity stripe … Wildcat freshman Jon Axel Gudmundsson had a 14-point, seven-rebound performance in Davidson’s win at Saint Joseph’s and contributed another double-figure performance, with 10 points in the Wildcats’ setback to Rhode Island … Dayton’s Kendall Pollard scored a season-high 25 points at Fordham, making 8-of-11 from the field while also becoming Dayton’s 47th member of the Flyer 1,000 point club during the game … Fordham’s Antwoine Anderson hit his second buzzer-beater of the season on Saturday at Saint Joseph’s, burying a 3-pointer in double overtime to lead the Rams to an 86-83 win, finishing with 20 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals … La Salle’s Jordan Price went 7-for-13 from the field and also added five assists in 36 minutes of action in a win over UMass … Rhode Island’s Hassan Martin averaged 16 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 54.2% from the floor in a 2-0 week for the Rams … Richmond’s ShawnDre’ Jones averaged 23.5 points per game in a 1-1 week for the Spiders, pouring in a game-high 30 points in a loss at VCU, followed with 17 points in a win over GW … Saint Louis’ Mike Crawford tallied a career-high 24 points in a win against George Mason and scored the game winner on a buzzer beater in the second overtime, registering 8-of-12 in both games and shooting 66.7 percent from the field for the week … VCU’s Justin Tillman averaged 18 points, 10.5 rebounds while shooting 60.9 percent from the floor in a 2-0 week for the Rams, beating in-city rival Richmond and collecting a win at St. Bonaventure.




Indians have Columbus, Ohio affiliate for 2017 season, 105.7 FM The Zone

The Cleveland Indians today announced an agreement has been reached with 105.7 FM as the new Columbus, Ohio, affiliate on the Indians Radio Network for the 2017 season.

105.7 The Zone will broadcast the majority of the Tribe’s regular season games during the upcoming season. iHeart Media Columbus launched Sports Radio 105.7 The Zone late in 2016, with a live and local morning show featuring Bruce Hooley.

“Tribe fans finally have a home in Columbus,” said Zone Program Director Mike Elliott. “We’re thrilled to partner with the reigning American League Champs for another amazing season of baseball.”

Columbus is also home to Indians AAA club, the Columbus Clippers.

The Indians Radio Network will feature 27 stations, including flagship station WTAM 1100 AM across the state of Ohio and Western Pennsylvania in 2017.

Cleveland Indians announce 2017 Promotional schedule

The Cleveland Indians have released the team’s 2017 promotional schedule, which features five jerseys, four bobbleheads, and other special items including a replica of the AL Championship Trophy!

Fans can add to their collection by scoring themselves bobbleheads featuring Jose Ramirez (May 27, courtesy of Sugardale), Francisco Lindor (July 4, courtesy of Sherwin-Williams), Jason Kipnis (July 22, courtesy of Medical Mutual) and Terry Francona (Aug. 23).

The Indians will unveil two statues outside the Right Field Gate. The first (May 27) will honor Frank Robinson, baseball’s first African-American manager. The second (Aug. 5) will be of player-manager and Hall of Fame inductee Lou Boudreau.

Back by popular demand
This season, the Indians will host 17 Pregame in the District nights, which will feature $2 12-ounce domestic beer cans from 5-7 p.m. in the Right Field District. There will also be 11 beloved Sugardale Dollar Dog nights.

Family friendly promotions return to Progressive Field
In an effort to provide entertainment for the entire family, the Indians will bring back many kid-friendly promotions for the 2017 season. The Indians will play host to 10 KeyBank Kids Fun Days and 16 fireworks nights, including two Rock ‘n’ Blast events (July 21 and July 22, presented by FirstEnergy). The club also will celebrate Slider’s birthday at the ballpark on July 23.

Single-game tickets go on sale to the public on Monday, March 6.

Indians announce 2017 broadcast schedule and game times

SportsTime Ohio to carry 157 games; 5 scheduled for national TV

The American League champion Cleveland Indians have announced the club’s game times and broadcast schedule for the 2017 season, the 117th as a charter member of the American League.

The slate includes 157 games on flagship television home SportsTime Ohio, plus five national TV games:

  • June 10 vs. Chicago White Sox (FOX)
  • July 1 vs. Detroit (FOX)
  • July 8 vs. Detroit (FOX)
  • July 9 vs. Detroit (ESPN)
  • Sept. 9 vs. Baltimore (FOX)

The Tribe’s season opener, on April 3 in Texas, will be broadcast on SportsTime Ohio and ESPN. WKYC Channel 3 will simulcast four games locally in Cleveland: April 11, May 26, July 7 and Aug. 25.

On radio, all 162 games will be broadcast all along the 27 affiliates in the Indians Radio Network, with 160 games set for WTAM 1100 AM and 146 on WMMS 100.7 FM.

Again this season, home weeknight games in April and May will begin at 6:10PM in an effort to minimize the impact of potential weather issues and to allow families to get home sooner on school nights.

The Tribe’s Home Opener is set for Tuesday, April 11 vs. the Chicago White Sox at 4:10PM, while the 2017 season features six big summer weekends at Progressive Field, including a six-game homestand beginning on the Fourth of July:

  • Friday, June 9-Sunday, June 11 vs. Chicago White Sox
  • Friday, June 23-Sunday, June 25 vs. Minnesota Twins
  • Friday, July 7-Sunday, July 9 vs. Detroit Tigers
  • July 4 six-game homestand: The Indians will take on the San Diego Padres (July 4-6) and Tigers
  • Friday, July 21-Sunday, July 23 vs. Toronto Blue Jays
  • Thursday, Aug. 3-Sunday, August 6 vs. New York Yankees
  • Friday, Aug. 25-Sunday, August 27 vs. Kansas City Royals

Home interleague opponents in 2017 include the Cincinnati Reds (May 24-25), Los Angeles Dodgers (June 13-15), San Diego Padres (July 4-6) and Colorado Rockies (Aug. 8-9). The Indians also will play interleague road games against the Arizona Diamondbacks (April 7-9), the Colorado Rockies (June 6-7) and the San Francisco Giants (July 17-19).

DePauw senior Claire Ryan averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in wins over Hiram and Allegheny last week. Against the Terriers, Ryan poured in 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds, collected six steals and added a block in 34 minutes of action. In just 19 minutes against the Gators, Ryan scored 14 points to go along with four rebounds, one assist and one steal to help the Tigers secure the programs 16th-straight 20 win season.
