Columbus Blue Jackets News: SIGNS RESTRICTED FREE AGENT RIGHT WING TREY FIX-WOLANSKY

COLUMBUS, OHIO – TheColumbus Blue Jackets have signed restricted free agent right wing Trey Fix-Wolansky to a one-year, two-way National Hockey League/American Hockey League contract for the 2022-23 season, club general manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Fix-Wolansky, 23, made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets in 2021-22, recording one goal and one assist for two points with two penalty minutes and five shots in six contests.  He became the sixth player in franchise history to score a goal in his NHL debut on February 8 at Washington (Pheonix Copley).  He added his first career assist two days later at Buffalo.

A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Fix-Wolansky spent the majority of the 2021-22 season with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters and posted 15-18-33 with 59 penalty minutes, two power play goals, three game-winning goals and 162 shots in 53 appearances.  He has recorded 31-37-68 with 93 PIM, 11 PPG, seven GWG and 276 shots in 105 regular season AHL contests with the Monsters since making his professional debut in the 2019 Calder Cup playoffs.

The 5-7, 186-pound winger was selected by Columbus in the seventh round, 204th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft.  He registered 93-152-245 with 202 PIM, 30 PPG, 479 shots and 13 GWG in 206 career games for the Western Hockey League’s Edmonton Oil Kings from 2016-19.  He served as the club’s captain in 2018-19 and was awarded the WHL’s Eastern Conference Player of the Year and named to the WHL’s Eastern Conference First All-Star Team after totaling 37-65-102 in 65 appearances.
