NORMAN — Oklahoma head softball coach Patty Gasso announced the addition of graduate transfer right-handed pitcher Alex Storako from the University of Michigan on Friday.

“Alex will be a great addition to an already dynamic pitching staff,” said Gasso. “She is a proven pitcher at the highest level with a wealth of knowledge that will fit perfectly into our plans.

“I am excited to have Alex in a Sooner uniform and ready to see her leave her mark on the Oklahoma Softball program.”

Storako, an NFCA All-American and and unanimous Big Ten Pitcher of the Year in 2021, will arrive in Norman with one year of eligibility remaining. Additionally, the Frankfort, Ill., product was a two-time All-Big Ten First Team honoree.

“I surprised myself when I fell in love with Oklahoma’s campus and program,” said Storako on joining the Sooners. “The ‘Championship Mindset’ is something they really buy into here and it’s a way of life for the program.

“The people that I met while in Norman were amazing. That’s the kind of culture I wanted to surround myself with for my last year of softball. Sooner softball is the best in the country and I can’t wait to be a part of this phenomenal program.”

In 2022, Storako appeared in 38 games, making 29 starts and striking out a career-best 300 batters. She held a 1.71 ERA and 25-8 record in the circle. In 2021, she set the Michigan single-game record with 22 strikeouts in a win over Michigan State and led the country in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 12.9. She departs UM with a 1.71 career ERA, 69 wins and 901 strikeouts in 563 innings pitched.

A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Storako recently completed her undergraduate degree in sports management at Michigan and will pursue a master’s degree at Oklahoma.
