Texas Rangers Roster Moves 6/7/22

Cleveland, Ohio — The Texas Rangers today announced the following roster moves prior to Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians:

  • LHP Brett Martin placed on COVID-19 Related Injured List
  • INF Andy Ibáñez (#77) recalled from Round Rock (AAA)
  • RHP Josh Sborz (#66) appointed as 27th man for doubleheader

Martin is tied for the team lead with 23 relief outings this season, going 0-4 with a 4.34 ERA (9 ER/18.2 IP). The 2022 campaign marks Martin’s fourth straight in the Majors with Texas, as he leads the Rangers with 155 relief appearances since the start of 2019.

Ibáñez has batted .216 with one home run and 9 RBI in 39 games with the Rangers this season. He had been optioned to Round Rock (AAA) on Sunday after spending the entire season in the Major Leagues with Texas and making an Opening Day roster for the first time in his career. 

Sborz will be in his fourth stint with Texas this season (also Opening Day-May 1, May 8, May 12-19). The right-hander has allowed 10 runs-earned runs over 8 games/8.1 innings with the Rangers in 2022. Sborz has spent the balance of this season with Round Rock, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (1 R-0 ER/13.1 IP) and 16 strikeouts in 10 games/one start for the Express. His last minor league appearance came as a starter in a bullpen game on Sat. vs. Oklahoma City (2.0 IP, 0 R).
