Crew acquired fourth overall selection in December 23 Re-Entry Draft in trade with Austin FC

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew today selected goalkeeper Brady Scott with the fourth overall selection in Stage 2 of the 2021 MLS Re-Entry Draft.

To select Scott, the Crew acquired the No. 4 position in the Re-Entry Draft from Austin FC in exchange for the No. 11 position, the Crew’s natural third round selection in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, and conditional $50,000 in General Allocation Money for performance-based incentives.

A U.S. Youth International, Scott began his professional career when he signed with German side FC Köln in July 2017. While in Germany, Scott recorded five shutouts in 29 matches for FC Köln II, and two shutouts in three matches for FC Köln’s U-19 side.

In the 2018 Concacaf U-20 Championship, Brady and the U.S. defense recorded three shutouts and allowed just two goals in six matches. The U.S. captured the title with a 2-0 win over Mexico in the final. For his efforts, Scott was awarded the Golden Glove as the tournament’s best goalkeeper and was additionally named to the tournament’s Best XI.

Scott signed with Nashville SC in August of 2020 prior to being selected by Austin FC in the 2020 MLS Expansion Draft. Scott appeared in seven matches while on loan to USL Championship side Memphis 901 FC during the 2021 season.

Per MLS Policy, if a player is selected in Stage 2 of the Re-Entry Process, the drafting club will be required to make a genuine offer to the player within seven days. A full breakdown of the MLS Re-Entry Process can be found here.
