Blue Jackets lose LW Patrik Laine to Injured Reserve

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Patrik Laine on Injured Reserve, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.  Laine suffered an oblique strain in Wednesday’s game at Colorado and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

Laine, 23, has recorded three goals and seven assists for 10 points with six penalty minutes, three multi-point efforts, two overtime winners and a +2 plus/minus rating, while averaging 17:43 of ice time in nine games with the Blue Jackets this season.  He leads the team in game-winning and overtime goals, ranks second in points and multi-point games (tied) and is third in assists.

The Tampere, Finland native has registered 153-128-281 and 145 penalty minutes in 360 career games with the Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets since making his NHL debut in 2016-17.  He has totaled 13-18-31, 27 penalty minutes and four power play goals in 54 contests with Columbus since being acquired in a trade on Jan. 23, 2021.  The 6-5, 216-pound forward was originally selected second overall by the Jets at the 2016 NHL Draft.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Saturday when they host the Colorado Avalanche.  Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.  The game will be broadcast live on Bally Sports Ohio and streamed on the Bally Sports app.  The game may also be heard on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship station Sports Radio 97.1 FM in Columbus.
