Columbus Blue Jackets News: RECALLS DEFENSEMAN GABRIEL CARLSSON FROM AHL’S CLEVELAND MONSTERS

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Gabriel Carlsson from the Cleveland Monsters, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Carlsson, 24, has registered a goal and six assists for seven points with 12 penalty minutes in 37 career games with the Blue Jackets since making his NHL debut at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.  He set career highs with 1-3-4 and four penalty minutes in 14 games with the team in 2020-21 and notched his first career goal on February 20 vs. Nashville (Pekka Rinne). 

The native of Orebro, Sweden has added 6-26-32 with 44 penalty minutes and a cumulative +14 plus/minus rating in 146 career AHL games with Cleveland.  He has recorded 0-2-2 and a +1 plus/minus rating in two appearances with the Monsters in 2021-22.  The 6-5, 195-pound blueliner was selected by Columbus in the first round, 29th overall, at the 2015 NHL Draft.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Thursday when they host the New York Islanders.  Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.  The game will be broadcast live on Bally Sports Ohio and streamed on the Bally Sports app.  The game may also be heard on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship station Sports Radio 97.1 FM in Columbus.
