CBJ TEAM NOTES

  • The Blue Jackets earned the come-from-behind victory to improve to 2-0-0.  It’s the fifth time in franchise history that the club has started a season with victories in its first two games (MR: 2014-15) and the sixth time the team has started 2-0-0 at home (MR: 2017-18).
  • Tonight marked the first time that the Blue Jackets and expansion Seattle Kraken met.  With the win, it’s the second time that Columbus defeated an expansion team in the first meeting (2-1-0), previously defeating Minnesota 3-0 on Jan. 15, 2000.
  • Columbus went into overtime for the first time this season.  In 2020-21, the Blue Jackets played 18 games that went past regulation (6-9-3), including 12 that were decided in the five-minute overtime period (3-9).
  • Columbus had no power play opportunities for the first time this season and killed off Seattle’s lone power play attempt.
  • The Blue Jackets remained scoreless for the first two periods of the game for the first time this season.
  • CBJ earned their first victory of the season when trailing after two periods of play.  The club earned two victories during the entire 2020-21 campaign when trailing after the second (2-18-6).

CBJ PLAYER NOTES

·        LW Patrik Laine scored his first goal of the season and now has points in both contests (1-2-3).  He notched his 19th career game-winner – his first with CBJ – and third career overtime winner with the tally.

·        LW Eric Robinson scored his first goal of the season.  He set career highs with 8-10-18 in 56 games last season.

·        D Zach Werenski tallied his second assist of the season, giving him points in both contests (1-2-3).  He led CBJ blueliners in goals last season and finished second in points with 7-13-20 in 35 games.

·        C Max Domi recorded his third assist of the season, giving him points in both outings (1-3-4).

·        C Gregory Hofmann notched his first career NHL point with an assist on Robinson’s third period goal.

·        D Scott Harrington registered his first assist/point of the campaign on Robinson’s equalizer.
