COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew hosts Liga MX side Deportivo Cruz Azul in the 2021 Campeones Cup at Lower.com Field tonight, Wednesday, September 29 [8:00 p.m. ET / ESPN2, Univision and TUDN]. With Campeones Cup hardware on the line, the competition presents an opportunity for the Crew to secure its first international trophy in Club history. The Crew qualified for the 2021 Campeones Cup by virtue of winning the 2020 MLS Cup, defeating Seattle Sounders FC 3-0 (December 12) – the largest margin of victory in MLS Cup history. Tonight’s contest marks the Club’s first appearance in Campeones Cup. Representing LIGA MX, Cruz Azul earned a spot in the Campeones Cup after defeating Club Leon and winning its third Campeon de Campeones match – the contest between the winners of LIGA MX’s Apertura and Clausura regular seasons, in which Cruz Azul had won the 2021 Clausura title.

Supporters planning to attend are encouraged to pre-purchase parking via arenadistrictparking.com and arrive as early as possible. The midweek contest marks an exciting evening downtown around the Arena District and Astor Park with the Crew’s neighbors the Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Clippers also hosting games this evening.
