Sept. 27, 2021

Braendli receives her eighth weekly conference honor with a shutout against St. Thomas

COLUMBUS, Ohio –Andrea Braendli has been named WCHA Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced Monday. She earns Ohio State’s first weekly award of the season and the eighth of her career following her performance against St. Thomas.

In the Buckeyes’ first game of the 2021-22 campaign, the senior from Zurich, Switzerland posted a clean sheet, helping the team to a 6-0 win over St. Thomas. She recorded 16 saves on the night to earn her 48th career win and 13th career shutout.

Braendli is now second in the Ohio State record book in career shutouts. With 10 career shutouts in conference games, the 2021-22 WCHA Preseason All-Conference team member is just one win shy of Kassidy Sauve’s Buckeye record 11 career WCHA shutouts. She became the program’s winningest goaltender last season when she recorded her program-high 43rd victory on Jan. 23, 2021 against Minnesota State.
