Columbus Blue Jackets News: SIGN 2021 THIRD ROUND PICK STANISLAV SVOZIL TO THREE-YEAR ENTRY LEVEL CONTRACT

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Stanislav Svozil to a three-year entry level contract, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.  Svozil (pronounced Svoh-ZIHL) was selected by the Blue Jackets in the third round, 69th overall, at the 2021 NHL Draft.

Svozil, 18, has registered three goals and five assists for eight points with 16 penalty minutes in 71 career games with HC Kometa Brno in the Czech Extraliga since making his pro debut in 2019-20.  He notched 1-2-3 and eight penalty minutes in 30 contests with the club in 2020-21.  He was named the Czech Extraliga Rookie of the Year in 2019-20 after notching 2-3-5 and eight penalty minutes in 41 appearances with Brno.

A native of Prerov, Czech Republic, Svozil combined for 2-12-14 in 13 games with Brno’s junior and U17 teams in 2019-20.  In 2018-19, he racked up 21-35-56 and 62 penalty minutes in 57 games split between Brno’s U19 and U16 squads.

The 6-1, 182-pound blueliner has represented the Czech Republic at several international tournaments.   He collected 0-1-1 and 16 penalty minutes at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships and 0-1-1 and six penalty minutes in five contests at the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championships.  He also skated for the country at the 2019 World U17 Hockey Challenge (bronze medal) and 2019 Ivan Hlinka Memorial.
