OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s reinstated designated hitter Mitch Moreland from the injured list and designated first baseman/designated hitter Frank Schwindel for assignment, the club announced Friday.

Moreland was batting .238 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 57 games when he was placed on the IL on July 4. He has made 37 of his 46 starts against right-handed pitchers and is 4-for-11 (.364) with two RBI as a pinch hitter. Moreland has started 40 games at designated hitter and six at first base.

Schwindel was optioned to Las Vegas on Monday after going 3-for-20 (.150) with a home run and three RBI in an eight-game stint with Oakland that began on June 29. He started four games at designated hitter, went 0-for-4 as a pinch hitter, and also appeared in one game at first base. Schwindel is hitting .317 with 16 home runs and 41 RBI in 45 games with the Aviators.
