MATCH PREVIEW

Austin FC returns home to Q2 Stadium on Sunday to host Columbus
Crew in what will be the Club’s second-ever home match. Austin
comes in after just playing Wednesday night, dropping a 0-2 result to
Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field. Captain Alex Ring was forced to
bow out of the match before it even started after suffering a knock
in training on Tuesday. Defender Nick Lima soon followed him to the
injury list after pulling up with a hamstring injury in the first minutes
of the match. Austin created a couple of chances after halftime but
was unable to cut into Minnesota’s lead. The Verde & Black currently
sit in 11th place in the Western Conference after collecting nine (9)
points in their first 10 matches, eight (8) of which came on the road.
Two (2) Austin FC players, defender Hector Jimenez and goalkeeper
Andrew Tarbell could potentially face their former club after helping

Columbus Crew win MLS Cup last year. Columbus have had an up-
and-down start to their season after lifting the Philip F. Anschutz Tro-
phy last year, but they do sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.

Caleb Porter’s side come into Sunday’s match having won three (3)
of their last four (4) matches, though the one (1) match they did not

win came on Wednesday night as they lost 1-0 against the Phila-
delphia Union. Columbus remains a strong one defensively, having

conceded just seven (7) goals in nine (9) matches, and has scored
two (2) or more goals in at least four (4) of their nine (9) regular
season matches.
