MLB/MLBPA issue updates on weekly COVID-19 Testing Results

Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association jointly announced today the latest COVID-19 testing results conducted under MLB’s COVID-19 Health Monitoring & Testing Plan. The independent Utah laboratory has reported the following results during the past week:

Weekly Monitoring Testing:

  • 8,868 tests conducted, with 2 new positive tests (1 player and 1 staff member); a 0.02% positive rate.

Total Monitoring Testing To Date:

  • 194,419 tests conducted, with 65 total positive tests (36 players and 29 staff members); a 0.03% positive rate. Twenty-five (25) different Clubs have had a Covered Individual test positive during Monitoring Testing.

In addition, MLB and the MLBPA announced today that 22 Clubs have reached the threshold of 85% or more of their Tier 1 Individuals being considered fully vaccinated, which (in consultation with medical experts) will allow for the relaxation of certain health and safety protocols for their Tier 1 Individuals. As of today, 85.1% of all Tier 1 Individuals are considered partially or fully vaccinated (i.e., have received at least one vaccine dose), and 83.7% of all Tier 1 Individuals are considered fully vaccinated.
